Salary: £61,000 - 101,000 per year
Requirements: Experience in information security, including in a security assessment or assurance role.Demonstrated experience conducting security design reviews and assessments.Strong background in defence, aerospace, or government security programmes.Experience with security certification and accreditation processes.Experience managing a team in a security or Joint Design Team function.Working knowledge of IT architecture and design principles.Comprehensive understanding of IT security controls and security frameworks.Strong knowledge of network, infrastructure, application, and data security.Understanding of threat modelling and risk assessment methodologies.Knowledge of ITAR regulations and export control requirements.Understanding of security standards such as ISO 27001 and NIST CSF.Practical knowledge of common IT architectures and technologies.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, leadership skills, and attention to detail.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex security concepts clearly.Collaborative approach to working with architects and technical teams, and a professional approach to challenging design decisions on security grounds.Eligibility to meet applicable UK Government and contractual personnel security requirements, including residency requirements for the role, and the right to work in the United Kingdom. Some roles may also be subject to nationality requirements. Responsibilities: Lead security design reviews, assessments, and assurance for defence and aerospace IT programmes, providing technical security guidance to Joint Design Teams.Conduct detailed security reviews of IT architecture and design documentation; assess controls, identify gaps, evaluate threat models and assumptions, and review security specifications for completeness and compliance.Identify residual security risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and support authority leads while advising third parties.Verify compliance with Defence Security Policy and Classification Guides, ITAR and export control requirements, IS1 (IS1A), and other applicable standards.Validate data handling, classification, personnel security, and vetting requirements.Participate in Joint Design Team meetings and architecture workshops, providing security input on infrastructure, network, and application decisions.Review proposed solutions, recommend alternatives, challenge assumptions, identify risks early, and support customer security decision-making through technical analysis.Prepare security assessment reports, control specifications, implementation guidance, assessment and compliance traceability matrices, and executive summaries; maintain documentation for compliance and audit purposes.Conduct security risk assessments, develop and prioritise risk matrices, recommend controls and mitigations, track remediation, and provide assurance of control implementation.Validate security controls, review security test plans and validation approaches, support certification and accreditation activities, and document assurance evidence.Communicate findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders, facilitate discussions between design teams and customer security teams, and explain security requirements and implications.
