Salary: £40,000 - 41,000 per year
Requirements: Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Electronics, Embedded Systems, Computer Science, Telecommunications or a related disciplineMinimum 1 to 3 years of experience in the embedded systems development environmentBasic knowledge of C and/or C++ programmingSome exposure to microcontrollers, embedded systems or electronics through work, study or personal projectsInterest in bare-metal firmware, real-time operating systems and low-level embedded developmentWillingness to learn about low-level drivers, microcontroller peripherals and embedded communication interfacesAwareness of communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, RS232/485 or similar would be usefulInterest in analogue, digital or RF circuit designSome familiarity with schematic capture or PCB layout tools would be advantageousExposure to EDA tools such as Pulsonix, KiCAD or similar would be helpful, but training can be providedAbility or willingness to learn how to use oscilloscopes, signal generators and other diagnostic equipmentInterest in EMC/EMI requirements and electronic product complianceFamiliarity with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Zigbee or cellular technologies would be advantageous, but is not essentialStrong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and a collaborative approachA full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when required Responsibilities: Support the development of clean, reliable and maintainable embedded firmware using C and C++Learn to work with PIC and other microcontrollers, including bare-metal and real-time operating system environmentsAssist with algorithms, low-level drivers, peripheral interfaces and communication systemsSupport schematic capture, PCB design, prototyping and validation activities under guidanceWork with interfaces and protocols including SPI, I2C, UART, RS232/485 and OneWireDevelop products such as load cells, wireless sensor boards and monitoring systemsWork with engineers from firmware, hardware, mechanical, software and production teams to understand complete product solutionsTest prototypes and investigate hardware and software faults using laboratory and diagnostic equipmentSupport new product introductions, production testing and documentation activitiesMaintain and improve existing hardware and firmware platformsHelp produce and maintain technical documentation including test procedures, production notes, BOMs and design recordsCollaborate with internal teams and learn how engineering projects move from design into production Technologies: BluetoothEmbeddedFirmwareHardwareSupportC++ More:
