Job Title: Leather SewerJob DescriptionThis role focuses on crafting high-quality leather apparel and accessories with precision and care. You will prepare materials, set up and operate industrial sewing equipment, and ensure every piece meets exacting standards of luxury craftsmanship. As a leather sewer and sample maker, you will contribute directly to the creation of premium garments by producing accurate samples, following design specifications, and maintaining consistent quality throughout the production process. Responsibilities • Organize, sort, and prepare leather and other materials for sewing and sample making. • Create and work from patterns for sample garments, ensuring accurate translation of design specifications. • Set up industrial sewing machines, including changing needles, securing attachments, and confirming proper machine operation. • Operate single-needle and double-needle industrial sewing machines to stitch materials together with precision. • Inspect materials before sewing to identify and remove any flaws or imperfections. • Sew garments and accessories according to design sheets and specifications, maintaining luxury-quality standards. • Monitor machine performance during operation, identify malfunctions, and make necessary adjustments to optimize output. • Perform routine machine maintenance and preventive care in line with manufacturer instructions, and report issues promptly. • Use hand-sewing and ironing techniques to finish products and achieve the desired level of craftsmanship. • Conduct ongoing quality assurance checks on finished products to ensure consistency and excellence. • Handle and replenish spools of thread, cord, and other materials on machine spindles to support continuous production. • Maintain a clean, orderly, and well-organized work area while strictly following safety protocols. • Demonstrate versatility by sewing on different types of machinery and participating in cross-training to expand skills. • Follow all applicable company policies, procedures, and legal regulations while performing daily tasks. • Collaborate effectively with team members, communicate clearly, and assist with related tasks to support overall team goals. • Work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while managing a physical workload and repetitive manual motions. Essential Skills • Minimum of one year of experience operating single-needle sewing machines in a manufacturing environment (preferred). • Proficiency in setting up and operating industrial sewing machines, including single-needle and double-needle equipment. • Experience working with high-end luxury clothing, with a strong emphasis on leather (highly preferred). • Strong sewing skills, including sample making, pattern use, and upholstery-related techniques. • Ability to sew accurately according to design specifications and follow detailed design sheets. • Basic measuring skills for precise garment assembly, using tools such as tape measures. • High level of manual dexterity and close visual attention for detailed sewing and finishing work. • Ability to quickly learn all job responsibilities within an appropriate time frame. • Capacity to handle a physical workload and perform repetitive motions using feet, legs, arms, wrists, hands, and fingers throughout the shift. • Adaptability to excel in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. • Strong sense of responsibility and personal accountability for work quality and productivity. • Effective team collaboration and clear communication skills. • Commitment to performing work in compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience as a sample maker, including pattern creation and material preparation for others to sew. • Familiarity with luxury apparel construction and high-end finishing standards. • Knowledge of industrial sewing techniques for leather and upholstery-style work. • Comfort working with various fabrics and materials beyond leather. • Attention to detail and strong organizational habits in a production setting. • Willingness to cross-train on other machinery and processes to broaden skill set. Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Los Angeles, CA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $50000.00/yr.
