Salary: £40,000 - 70,000 per year
Requirements: Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and Azure DevOps; willingness to learn additional skills through certification or on-the-job learning.Ability to script with Bash, PowerShell, or Azure CLI; code in Python, C#, Java, or similar; query with SQL or Kusto; and use version control and CI/CD systems.Programming experience with PowerShell, Terraform, Python, Windows command prompt, and object-oriented languages.Demonstrable Linux administration and scripting experience, preferably with Red Hat systems.Understanding of hardware, software, storage, CPU and memory architectures, operating systems, network fundamentals, protocols, and network design.Experience in cloud infrastructure and platform engineering, preferably Azure, including building, operating, maintaining, and supporting cloud infrastructure and data services at scale.Experience engineering and deploying Azure services, working with multiple support groups, and supporting highly available or high-load web infrastructure.Knowledge of data quality, data management, data controls and governance, security and compliance, IAM, and cloud auditing and monitoring.Experience troubleshooting and supporting services, including complex issues spanning cloud, services, and application layers.Strong documentation and change-management skills, with an agile development ethos and a track record of identifying and implementing improvements.Breadth of technical knowledge across Azure services, such as identity, networking, compute, storage, web, containers, and databases.Experience with relevant cloud and data technologies, such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Functions, Kubernetes, Monitor, Log Analytics, Data Lake, Synapse Analytics, Power BI, or equivalent technologies.Experience with infrastructure and operating-system technologies such as Nginx or Apache, Cosmos DB, Linux, Bash, PowerShell, Prometheus, Grafana, or Elasticsearch.Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools such as Terraform, Chef, Ansible, CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager; streaming technologies such as Event Hubs or Kafka and stream processing such as Spark are also relevant.Experience with cloud-based SIEM and SOAR technologies is a significant asset.Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and enthusiasm for learning.A bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field is advantageous. A STEM degree with relevant data, technology, or programming experience is also considered.Applicants without a bachelors degree may be considered if they have demonstrable relevant career experience and/or industry certifications in cloud, data, or cybersecurity.Transferable skills from software development or other technology backgrounds are considered.Proficiency in Python, Java, C#, or similar languages is preferred.Experience in a highly regulated industry, such as financial services, is advantageous.Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, financial services business models, compliance regulations, applicable laws, and industry frameworks or standards such as OWASP, ISO 2700x, PCI DSS, GLBA, FFIEC, CIS, and NIST is advantageous. Responsibilities: Operate and enhance our strategic cybersecurity data lake and advanced analytics platform in Azure.Build and manage our Azure platform to enable application deployments.Engineer Azure solutions using infrastructure-as-code methods, such as Terraform.Manage Azure connectivity and networking, including ExpressRoute, DNS, IP allocation, traffic routing, network security groups, and Azure Firewall.Gather requirements and maintain feedback loops between our CSA team and the wider Azure Cloud Services team.Design, document, develop, and maintain functional patterns in the code library.Integrate, configure, deploy, and manage shared cloud services, including identity and access management, networking, monitoring, operating systems, and containers.Build and support continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous testing activities.Maintain and provide run support for landing zones and cloud workspaces used by our cybersecurity teams.Ensure services are reliable, resilient, compliant, and aligned with stakeholder requirements and our risk, cost, and quality tolerances.Ensure compliance with operational risk management standards, including network, firewall, operating system, logging, monitoring, availability, and resiliency controls.Maintain support and operational documentation.Troubleshoot and support CSA delivery teams building applications on the data platform.Provide day-to-day troubleshooting and support for our CSA Azure tenant and infrastructure.Coordinate data engineering, data acquisition, cloud and platform engineering, platform operations, and production support activities with principal engineers and the wider team. We are recruiting an Azure Infrastructure / Site Reliability Engineer for our Cybersecurity Science & Analytics (CSA) team, based in London, UK, on a contract basis at a stated rate of £600–£650 per day. Our award-winning analytics platform supports innovative cybersecurity products across a large technology estate. You will join a global, multi-skilled team of cybersecurity scientists, data and analytics professionals, engineers, and data technology specialists working on a strategic cybersecurity data lake and analytics platform. This is a hands-on technical delivery role with opportunities to grow across data engineering, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, operations, and production support. Cybersecurity-specific knowledge is preferred but not essential. We welcome candidates from diverse educational and technical backgrounds and support ongoing learning.
