We are hiring a Seasonal Hire (8-10hrs/week) to join the UTHealth Houston McGovern Medical School Department of Internal Medicine, Rheumatology in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will work in a clinical research setting, observing and learning how clinical studies operate. An ideal candidate should have some exposure to biology coursework at a high school or college level, be familiar with software databases, and be comfortable working with Excel and Word. Position Summary: Under close direction of senior research staff, conducts activities to support research projects. Employee will be working in a clinical research setting whereby they will observer and learn how clinical studies operate. Seasonal Hires are a temporary status and therefore may not be employed for a period of more than four and ½ months. These individuals may be hired either as full-time or part-time and must be a minimum age of 16 years. Position Key Accountabilities:
• Scan study patient clinical charts into REDCAP databases.
• Input study patient clinical information into excel databases.
• Facilitate the transfer of biological specimens from the clinic to the laboratories.
• Basic processing of biological specimens to prepare for the research staff to conduct their studies.
• Prepare basic lab solutions and prepare lab setups for research staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
• Exposure to Biology coursework at high school or college level, preferred. • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Word, preferred. Minimum Education:
• None • Individuals must be a minimum age of 16 years. • High School diploma or equivalent, preferred. Minimum Experience:
• None Physical Requirements: Exerts up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently, and/or up to 5 pounds constantly to move objects. This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.
