Advanced Practice Provider - Pediatric Endocrinology
Job Description: The Pediatric Endocrinology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides ambulatory endocrinology care to pediatric patients under the supervision and collaboration of a physician. Responsibilities include evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of children and adolescents with endocrine disorders. This is a full-time outpatient position.
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities: • Provides patient services under the supervision and responsibility of a Doctor of Medicine or osteopathy. • Develops plans of care with supervising physician, as appropriate, and implements plans in the course of treating patients. • Obtains patient health histories; conducts physical examinations, assesses patient complaints, and administers appropriate treatment. • Determines need for specialized medical testing for diagnosis or treatment; Orders tests appropriately. • Instructs and counsels patients and families regarding a plan of care, problems, and other health care issues. • Practices independently managing previously diagnosed and undiagnosed patients. • Provides the full spectrum of healthcare services including health prevention, disease prevention, health protection, anticipatory guidance and counseling, and disease management, and palliative care. • Use advanced health assessment skills to differentiate between rounds and variations of normal and abnormal findings. • Prescribes medication within the scope of practice. Manages the health/illness status of patients and families overtime. • Elicits detailed patient histories. • Examines patient, performs a comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination. • Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in the provision of continuity of care. • Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance. • May render emergency medical service without supervision, pending the arrival of a responsible physician, in cases where immediate diagnosis and treatment are necessary to avoid disability or death.
