MTR VEH OPR (SHUTTLE)
Job Description: Under designated supervision, operates a motor vehicle tractor-trailer combination, or a warehouse tractor float combination, for the purpose of shuttling merchandise between warehouses within the warehousing complex.
Job Qualifications: Completion of high school or equivalent. Creditable job-related experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a 9 months for 9 months basis. One year progressively responsible general work experience plus 1 year of specialized driving experience on a tractor trailer type vehicles. Successful completion of tractor trailer driving course at a recognized and accredited truck driving school may be substituted for 6 months of the specialized experience. Must be able to operate a standard shift tractor. Must have an MHE operators license and a valid Class C driver's license issued by the state where in employed and/or resides for type of vehicle to be operated. Previous driving record to include all traffic violations and accidents in the last 7 years must be submitted with job application. Must pass ADR road test and DOT physical fitness test. If required, must be able to obtain government Motor Vehicle Operator's Identification Card SF46.

Major Duties: Operates a motor vehicle tractor-trailer or warehouse tractor-float combination in the movement of AAFES-owned and commercial cargo trailers and ocean containers throughout the warehousing complex. Duties involve frequent backing of tractor-trailer equipment against loading docks and rear docks in constricted spaces. Performs preventive maintenance, such as checking oil, tires, battery, lights, and general operating condition, and reports any deficiencies noted during the check, or during operation of assigned vehicle which are beyond the operators capability to correct. Checks vehicles and/or trailers for properly completed maintenance and repair work when picking up vehicle from repair shop. Visually checks trailers for damage prior to movement and reports any deficiencies noted to the shuttle dispatch office. Drives carefully to prevent damage to vehicles. Follows all safety rules and regulations, traffic signs, and other posted rules for moving vehicles. Maintains and posts pertinent forms in accordance with ESM 50-1, Motor Vehicle Management, and current standard operating procedures. Ensures that vehicle operated has been properly dispatched on a daily basis. May be required to operate MHE and perform other routine warehouse worker duties. Performs other duties as assigned.
