Laborer (LG)
Job Description: Under general supervision, performs a variety of manual tasks involving heavy physical effort.
Job Qualifications: Education: High school or equivalent (9 months for 9 months). Experience: Must be able to operate moving, cleaning and required powered equipment.
If a sufficient number of qualified candidates do not apply, the minimum qualifications may be lowered without reposting.
Major Duties: Loads/off loads heavy to very heavy (frequently over 50 pounds) merchandise and supplies from incoming delivery trucks and other conveyances. Assists in unpacking merchandise, moving to storage area and placing in appropriate storage location according to specific instructions. Within the DC, transport merchandise by hand, pallet jack, dolly, hand or other means. Moves and arranges furniture, equipment or fixtures as directed. Picks up litter, collects and empties garbage cans, wash/wax vehicles by hand or using powered buffer. Vacuum, clean rugs and drapes, using chemicals and cleaning solutions as required. Sweeps floors, hallways, corridors and stairways and mops, scrubs, waxes and polishes floor surfaces using heavy duty powered equipment. Performs necessary maintenance such as cleaning and oiling equipment. Washes, cleans, disinfects, deodorizes and maintains restrooms in a clean, orderly and sanitary condition. Replaces toilet tissue, towels, soap and other items as required. Maintains stock of restroom and janitorial supplies. May operate a cardboard baling machine, power riding lawn mower, edger and other landscaping equipment. May operate jackhammer; mixes and pours concrete, asphalt and hot mixes; fills and levels holes in damaged areas. Performs other duties as assigned.
