Job Description: The Field Service Engineer will join a dynamic team providing technical and engineering support for Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems worldwide. This role requires a highly self-motivated individual capable of working independently with minimal supervision. The selected candidate will apply engineering principles and technical expertise to develop, modify, install, test, evaluate, and maintain complex electronic systems. The position also involves independently producing and updating technical documentation, test plans, procedures, and training materials. Key Duties and Responsibilities • Attend system meetings to review schedules, technical requirements, and deliverables. • Independently document testing activities and findings for ATC systems. • Develop test procedures, alignment processes, and preventative maintenance documentation with minimal oversight. • Provide autonomous support for test bed operations. • Perform independent on-site technical support for shipboard system repair, inspections, troubleshooting, and certification. • Provide technical expertise during testing phases, production, and deployment of current and future ATC systems—often working alone or as the sole on-site representative. • Review, write, and update engineering documentation, drawings, technical manuals, test plans, and training curriculum with little to no supervision. • Conduct independent shipboard maintenance, repair, inspection, and diagnosis of electronic equipment and systems. • Support the documentation, testing, installation, and deployment of newly developed Air Traffic Control Landing Systems, including creating technical manuals, preventative maintenance procedures, and comprehensive testing processes—frequently working unsupervised in shipboard or operational environments.
This position is located Chesapeake, Virginia. Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to Chesapeake, VA or surrounding areas.

Required Skills and Education: High school diploma and completion of U.S. Navy Electronics “C” School or equivalent and at least 10 years experience in troubleshooting and repair of electronic systems Experience preparing and modifying engineering documents and drawings At least 4 years of experience in military ATC or similar systems Experience using, reviewing, writing, and updating technical documentation such as test plans, maintenance and assembly procedures, schematics, technical manuals, drawings, and wire lists. Knowledge of Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) level repair of electronic systems Knowledge and experience with proper use of common and specialty hand tools, general purpose electronic test equipment (GPETE) and special purpose electronic test equipment (SPETE)
Preferred Skills and Education: Experience using Microsoft Office applications Familiarity with the operation of Unix and/or Linux software Flexibility to learn and utilize other similar systems Completion of 2 year college degree in Electronic Technology or Engineering
