Job Title: MIG Welder - 1st Shift Job DescriptionThis role focuses on MIG welding and fabrication work in a production environment. You will weld and grind metal parts, read and interpret blueprints, and use precision measuring tools to ensure accurate dimensions. This position offers hands-on experience for welders coming out of high school or technical school and a chance to build skills with support from experienced team members.Responsibilities
• Perform MIG welding on metal components according to specifications and quality standards. • Grind and finish welded parts to remove excess weld metal and achieve a clean, consistent appearance. • Read and interpret blueprints to understand part requirements, dimensions, and weld locations. • Use calipers and micrometers to accurately measure components, including Auger Flyte, and verify tolerances. • Apply knowledge of weld symbols to ensure the correct weld types and locations for each job. • Clean and organize the welding station regularly to maintain a safe and efficient work area. • Assist with prepping bays and work areas, collaborating with helpers and other team members as needed. • Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment, including a welding helmet. • Contribute to a positive team environment by communicating clearly and supporting coworkers as needed. Essential Skills
• Hands-on MIG welding experience in a fabrication or shop environment. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, including passing a blueprint reading test. • Understanding of weld symbols and their application in production work. • Basic fabrication skills, including fitting and preparing parts for welding. • Proficiency with measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers. • Attention to detail to ensure weld quality and accurate measurements. • Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. • Capability to work on a first-shift schedule and occasionally on Saturdays as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Welding certificate from a high school program or technical school. • Experience with TIG welding is beneficial but not required. • Comfort working in a small-company, fabrication shop environment. • Willingness to learn, take direction, and improve technical welding skills. • Reliability and strong work ethic with a commitment to quality. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orion, IL. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
