Job Title: CNC Setup MachinistJob DescriptionThis role focuses on setting up and machining parts on 3-axis and 4-axis CNC mills in a small, prototype-oriented mold shop. You will work on Hurco and Haas machines, perform G&M code edits, and contribute to short-run production work, including programming tasks, in a collaborative, hands-on environment.Responsibilities
• Set up and operate 3-axis and 4-axis CNC mills, including Hurco and Haas equipment, for prototype and short-run production work. • Perform CNC mill setups independently, ensuring correct tooling, workholding, and program selection for each job. • Edit and adjust G&M code at the machine to optimize performance, improve quality, and resolve machining issues. • Collaborate with the team on mold-building projects that are used for both sale and in-house short-run production. • Support programming activities related to CNC milling, including working with CAM software as needed. • Assist in multiple duties within a smaller shop environment, such as running machines, helping teammates, and contributing to general shop tasks when required. • Receive and apply feedback from the team to continuously improve processes and machining results. • Maintain a clean and organized work area, contributing to the overall cleanliness and efficiency of the prototype shop. • Help ensure safe operation of CNC equipment and adherence to shop procedures and quality standards. Essential Skills
• Minimum of 3 years of CNC mill setup experience. • Hands-on experience setting up and machining on 3-axis mills, with exposure to 4-axis milling. • Ability to set up and operate Hurco and Haas CNC mills or similar equipment. • Proficiency in editing G&M code directly at the machine. • Comfort working in a smaller shop environment where team members handle multiple duties. • Willingness to assist where needed beyond primary job functions and to work collaboratively with the team. • Openness to receiving and acting on feedback from colleagues to improve work quality and efficiency. • Experience with WorkNC or similar CAM programming software. • in mold building or short-run production machining. • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support different tasks within a prototype shop. You work with modern CNC mills such as Hurco and Haas, and may use CAM tools like WorkNC in a setting that values cleanliness, efficiency, and continuous improvement Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Troy, MI. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $27.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
