Job Title: Lab TechnicianJob DescriptionThe Lab Technician will play a pivotal role in supporting the chemist team through various tasks, including conducting titrations, performing liquid extractions, measuring weight differences, and analyzing and reporting data. The role involves checking backlog and running tests, typically averaging 2-3 methods. Responsibilities • Support the chemist team in day-to-day laboratory operations. • Conduct titrations and liquid extractions. • Perform weight difference measurements. • Analyze and report data effectively. • Check backlog and run tests as required. • Ensure quality control and manage rechecks and send backs efficiently. • Meet turnaround time (TAT) requirements. • Document and communicate findings clearly within the laboratory. Essential Skills • Experience in a production environment. • Strong decision-making skills. • Proficiency with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills. • Strong communication skills. • Ability to solve problems independently and take action. • Respectful and positive attitude. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Education in life science, preferably Chemistry. • Prior research or laboratory experience is preferred. • Experience in a part-time role during degree studies is advantageous. • Knowledge in chemical analytical testing is beneficial. • Accreditation as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or equivalent is acceptable. Work EnvironmentThe Lab Technician will work in the oils department, joining a dynamic team dedicated to developing new lab technologies. The position offers opportunities to gain a deep understanding of new instrumentation and methods. Training is provided for 3 months independently and 4-6 weeks depending on methods. The standard work hours are Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, transitioning to an 8-hour shift post-training, typically starting between 6-3 PM. The team consists of one lead and eight lab scientists. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of NEW ORLEANS, LA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
