Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Restaurant. Urban area. Ranks of chefs: Head chef. Tasks: Estimate amount and costs of supplies and food items. Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff. Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff. Prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions. Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities of several restaurants. Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards. Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances. Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food. Participate in marketing plans and implementation. Ensure health and safety regulations are followed. Supervision: 5-10 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Food Safety Certificate. Area of work experience: Manager. Transportation/travel information: Public transportation is available.
