About this role
Education: College/CEGEP. Work setting: Nursing home/home for the aged. Long term care center. Tasks: Assist health care practitioners during examinations or treatments . Engage in community program development. Monitor patients and advise physician of any changes in patients' condition. Participate in community needs assessment. Address and document symptoms and changes in patients' conditions. Assess patients to identify appropriate nursing interventions. Collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary health team to plan, implement, co-ordinate and evaluate patient care in consultation with patients and their families. Conduct disease screening. Deliver health education programs. Deliver immunization programs. Dispense and administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician. Engage in research activities related to nursing. Manage home care cases. Provide consultative services regarding issues relevant to nursing profession and nursing practice. Provide nursing care. Provide supportive counselling and life skills programming. Supervise licensed practical nurses and other nursing staff. Conduct research. Perform administrative tasks. Supervision: 3-4 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Licensure as a Registered Nurse by provincial or territorial authorities. Screening questions: Are you available for shift or on-call work?.
