About this role

Job Title: LoaderJob DescriptionThe Loader is responsible for safely and accurately loading finished product into bulk trailers and feed trucks, while maintaining thorough documentation and adhering to food safety and Good Manufacturing Practices standards. This role requires continuous coordination with production operations, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a physically demanding indoor/outdoor environment. Responsibilities • Load finished product into bulk trailers in a safe, efficient, and accurate manner. • Load feed trucks as required, ensuring correct product type and quantity. • Maintain clear and constant communication with the shift team to determine what products are being produced and what is stored in each finished product bin. • Complete all required paperwork for each load, including trailer inspections, tailings checks, product retain samples, and Certificates of Analysis (COAs). • Keep current with all MSS (maintenance, sanitation, or safety) requirements for the assigned area and follow related procedures. • Conduct Fall Protection training and follow all fall protection procedures when working at heights or on ladders. • Check load-out magnets daily to ensure they are functioning properly and effectively removing metal contaminants. • Run test pieces through metal detectors once per shift to verify equipment performance and compliance with food safety standards. • Observe and consistently apply Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in accordance with BRC standards. • Follow all food safety regulations and report any concerns or deviations promptly. • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and in accordance with site procedures. • Perform general labor and production-related tasks as needed to support mill operations. • Assist with basic machine operation and milling equipment as directed, including minor troubleshooting and maintenance support. • Use computer systems and Microsoft Office to enter data, complete documentation, and communicate load and production information. • Work collaboratively with team members to support overall plant performance, safety, and product quality. Essential Skills • High School Diploma or GED equivalent. • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills. • General labor and production experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. • Ability to perform loading and unloading tasks, including operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment. • Basic machine operation skills, including familiarity with milling equipment. • Thorough knowledge of mill equipment and an understanding of basic maintenance needs. • Knowledge of different wheat varieties and their handling requirements. • Knowledge of grain science and related analytical procedures. • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot production problems. • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office applications. • Ability and willingness to work with wheat products, with no wheat or gluten sensitivity. • Ability and willingness to work effectively in a team environment to support plant success. • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in completing paperwork and documentation. • Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices and food safety regulations consistently. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience working in a milling, grain, or food production facility. • Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and similar material handling equipment. • Comfort working with analytical procedures related to grain and finished products. • Experience using metal detection equipment and load-out magnets in a production environment. • Familiarity with BRC or similar food safety and quality standards. • Ability to learn and maintain current knowledge of MSS requirements for the assigned area. • Experience working in a physically demanding role that involves climbing ladders and working at heights with proper fall protection. Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a mixed indoor and outdoor production environment that is non–climate controlled, requiring comfort working in varying temperatures and conditions. The work is physically demanding and involves regular climbing up and down ladders while attached to a safety harness, as well as standing, walking, lifting, and operating equipment throughout the shift. You work with milling machinery, bulk trailers, feed trucks, load-out magnets, metal detectors, forklifts, pallet jacks, and computer systems. The schedule runs Wednesday through Saturday, with shifts typically on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., requiring comfort with extended hours and a consistent weekly pattern. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Winchester, VA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.23 - $22.23/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
