Job Title: Shipping and Receiving / Inventory SpecialistJob DescriptionThis role manages daily shipping, receiving, and inventory control activities using electronic systems in a fast-paced warehouse environment. You will ensure accurate inventory levels, support on-site program replenishments, and provide responsive customer service while following established standard operating procedures.Responsibilities
• Use electronic inventory and order management systems to perform shipping and receiving activities accurately and on time. • Manage on-site program replenishments and disbursements to ensure product availability and proper stock levels. • Receive incoming materials, verify accuracy, and complete put-away activities according to standard operating procedures. • Perform stock rotation to ensure products follow first-in, first-out or other applicable inventory practices. • Conduct regular cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory records and identify discrepancies. • Enter orders into the system, monitor status, and expedite shipments as needed to meet customer requirements. • Handle customer service calls, resolve issues, and process product returns and backorders within established resolution timeframes. • Work within computer systems to access, understand, and follow standard operating procedures for all assigned tasks. • Proactively communicate customer concerns, potential problems, or process issues to the supervisor for timely resolution. • Engage in process improvement activities to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction. • Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and pushcarts in a safe and efficient manner, as required. • Use handheld scanners to enter data, track inventory movements, and update systems accurately. • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor in all interactions and uphold the organization’s values. • Collaborate effectively with personnel at various levels at the customer site to support operational needs. • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by management to support overall warehouse and inventory operations. Essential Skills
• High school diploma or equivalent required. • Approximately 1 year of related experience in inventory management preferred. • Experience working in customer service is a plus. • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on delivering excellent customer service. • Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor in all interactions. • Strong customer service mindset and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various levels of personnel at the customer site. • Ability to operate handheld scanners and enter data accurately into various systems. • Analytical skills to review and understand inventory and operational reports. • Computer proficiency with intermediate skills in the Microsoft Office suite. • Organizational skills to multi-task, prioritize work, and meet due dates. • Experience with inventory control processes and shipping and receiving operations. • Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment, or willingness to learn. • Familiarity with ERP or other electronic inventory/order management systems. • Previous experience in inventory management, warehousing, or distribution environments. • Experience in customer-facing roles or customer service environments. • Experience using ERP systems or warehouse management systems for order entry and inventory tracking. • Comfort working with process documentation and standard operating procedures. • Interest in participating in and supporting process improvement initiatives. • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work requirements in a fast-paced environment. The role is based in a warehouse or distribution environment where you will regularly stand or walk for prolonged periods and perform physical tasks. Depending on the work area, you may wear personal protective equipment such as lab coats, coveralls, hoods, facemasks, hairnets, safety gloves, steel-toe shoes, bump hats, and safety glasses. The position requires the ability to lift, push, and pull 30–40 pounds consistently and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, including the operation and use of pushcarts, pallet jacks, forklifts, and similar equipment. Work is performed using handheld scanners, computer systems, and ERP or other electronic inventory and order management tools, following defined standard operating procedures in a safety-focused environment. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kalamazoo, MI. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.75 - $17.75/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
