About this role
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Tasks: Load and unload goods. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Pay and receive payments for goods. Perform brake adjustments. Perform emergency roadside repairs. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Perform preventive maintenance. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Transport and handle dangerous goods. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Driver's License (Class 1 or A). Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Willing to travel for extended periods. Willing to travel overnight. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Handling heavy loads. Large workload. Physically demanding. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Experience: Will train. Support for youths: Offers on-the-job training tailored to youth. Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for youth.
