Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for anHCPC registered Biomedical Scientist, with relevant post-registration and IBMS specialist portfolio in Cellular Pathology.
Successful applicants are required to take the lead in the specialist areas of the main laboratory sections; routine histology, immunohistochemistry, special stains, dissection, embedding and microtomy.
Candidates should meet the full criteria of the Specialist BMS Band 6 Job Description and Person Specification.
Assist in the provision of a diagnostic service. To understand, organise and perform competently a range of laboratory procedures, either singly or as part of a team, that equate to the training and qualifications of aHealth and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered specialist BMS. You will be required to attain proficiency in the relevant areas of cellular pathology essential to support the provision of the diagnostic services.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
BSc(Hons) in Biomedical Sciences (IBMS approved) or equivalent Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Desirable
Membership of the Institute of Biomedical Science or equivalent professional body. Multi-disciplinary Specialist Diploma or Specialist Diploma in Cellular Pathology
Experience Essential
Substantial practical experience of Biomedical procedures in a relevant discipline; gained through working in an NHS environment
Desirable
Experience of supervising junior staff and students. Experience of specimen dissection Experience of using Pathology LIMS and a Quality management software.
