An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Ward Clerk to join our team on Ward 3 Great North Children's Hospital.
We are looking for a dedicated, compassionate and approachable individual who will complement our team.
Our team is looking for a candidate who is reliable and highly organised individual who has excellent communication skills. You must also be able to demonstrate an adaptable, enthusiastic approach to your work, and the ability to manage your workload with various competing demands for your attention within a busy clinical area. The ideal candidate will have previous clerical experience along with excellent communication and IT Skills.
You should be able to work within departmental guidelines in compliance with government legislation and Trust policies and procedures. You should be able to manage your time effectively and have good organisational skills.

Main duties of the job
This is a key role within the team involving all aspects of administrative work from reception/telephone duties to preparation of patient documentation for admission/discharge, ensuring the smooth running of the service. As a valued member of the team, you will benefit from working in a supportive environment as part of wide multidisciplinary team.
What we are looking for:
Previous administrative or reception experience (NHS or healthcare setting desirable but not essential) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure Confident in using IT systems and Microsoft Office applications Ability to work as part of a team and independently A friendly, calm, and professional manner, especially in sensitive situations

Ward 3 complies of a 10 bedSpecialist unit, we are aninternationally renowned Haematopoietic stem cell transplant unit at the Great North Childrens Hospital, where we care forchildren from birth to 19 years with a wide range of immunological, haematology oncology and haemoglobinopathy diseases where haematopoietic stem cell (blood and marrow) transplants are the best and most successful forms of treatment.All the diseases we treat are life threatening, and we are proud to be one of only two centres in the UK specialising in this field of transplantation (the other being Great Ormond Street).Patients come to us for treatment from all over the world our catchment area within the UK covers everywhere north of Birmingham, Scotland,Walesand all of Ireland. This means that our nurses develop excellent communication skills with patients from a diverse range of cultures and backgrounds.
To provide and maintain efficient and effective administrative support to the Ward Sister/ Charge Nurse and multidisciplinary team. Contribute to the delivery of a consistently high standard of patient care as part of the multi-disciplinary team. Ensures case notes, investigations, X-rays and results are available for new admissions, ward rounds and multi-disciplinary team meetings. To ensure that case notes are correctly maintained following departmental guidelines and compliance with legislation (Caldicott Guidelines etc).Ensuring PAS system is up to date and accurate.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Education Essential
NVQ 2 level qualification / experience and/or minimum of 4 GCSEs, Level 4 - 9 (A - C), including English Language, or equivalent level qualification or relevant experience
Desirable
Competent with Microsoft Office software including Outlook; ICT Level 1 Qualification or equivalent
Knowledge & Experience Desirable
Previous experience working within the NHS Knowledge of the eRecord, Mermaid, Casis, ERA and or Tracking systems
Skills & Abilities Essential
Basic IT skills Ability to communicate with members of the public and healthcare providers Able to work effectively alone or part of the multi-disciplinary team Effective organisation and time management skills
