An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Radiographer to join our friendly team in The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust Clinical Radiology department.
As a Radiographer on the Plain Film department you will be responsible for providing an efficient and high standard of practice, utilising high quality Radiography skills. You will be expected to have a high standard of professional knowledge and excellent communication skills ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care. You will be expected to work as part of a friendly and effective team. You will participate in 7/7 working pattern incorporating shift work and covering staff sickness. A flexible approach to these working patterns will be expected.

Main duties of the job
- To carry out all required imaging examinations, ensuring policies and protocols are closely followed.
- To work as part of the Clinical Radiology team, providing a high quality service.
- To maintain a high degree of professionalism with other healthcare workers and ensure excellent communication skills with both staff and patients.
- To participate in 7-7 working covering out of hours and sickness.
- To ensure that CPD is up to date, in line with HCPC recommendations and support departmental Quality Improvement initiatives.
- To participate in multi professional audit.
- To assess imaging requests for clinical appropriateness, ensuring justification criteria are met and escalating concerns where necessary in accordance with IR(ME)R regulations.
- To adapt imaging techniques based on patient presentation, anatomy, and clinical indications, including trauma, complex conditions and postoperative cases.
- To recognise radiographic appearances of pathology and promptly escalate urgent or unexpected findings in line with departmental escalation procedures.
- To maintain a comprehensive understanding of radiographic positioning, exposure factors and optimisation techniques, ensuring high-quality diagnostic images while minimising radiation dose.
- To understand and apply radiation protection principles, ensuring patient safety, justification and optimisation in all imaging procedures.
