We have an opportunity for a Cardiac Physiologist to join their team of staff. This is to support the growing Cardiology services within the hospital.
This is a bank role working on an as and when required basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.
Main duties of the job
Perform and interpret a wide range of non-invasive cardiac investigations including resting ECGs, Holter monitoring, event recorders, and blood pressure monitoring.
Carry out and report on exercise tolerance tests (ETTs), tilt table testing, and other functional assessments.
Undertake and interpret echocardiograms (transthoracic, transoesophageal, and stress echo, if appropriately trained).
Assist in cardiac catheterisation procedures, including angiograms, angioplasties, and right heart studies.
Monitor and record intra-cardiac pressures and waveforms during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
Provide technical support during pacemaker, ICD, and CRT implantations.
Conduct pacemaker, ICD, and CRT device checks and follow-ups in accordance with current guidelines.
Analyse device data and provide expert interpretation to guide clinical decisions.

WHAT DO YOU DO?
Cardiac Diagnostics:

Invasive Procedures Support:
Assist in cardiac catheterisation procedures, including angiograms, angioplasties, and right heart studies.
Monitor and record intra-cardiac pressures and waveforms during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
Provide technical support during pacemaker, ICD, and CRT implantations.
Device Management:
Conduct pacemaker, ICD, and CRT device checks and follow-ups in accordance with current guidelines.
Analyse device data and provide expert interpretation to guide clinical decisions.
Assist in the remote monitoring of cardiac devices.
Clinical Reporting and Documentation:
Accurately document all tests and results in patient records.
Prepare and issue timely, high-quality clinical reports for use by referring clinicians.
Ensure compliance with departmental and national clinical governance standards.
Equipment and Safety:
Calibrate, maintain, and ensure the safe use of all cardiology equipment.
Report faults promptly and take part in equipment procurement and upgrades where needed.
Patient Care and Communication:
Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, explaining procedures and ensuring informed consent is obtained.
Provide reassurance and support to patients undergoing stressful or uncomfortable tests.
Education and Development:
Participate in the supervision and training of junior staff, students, and trainees.
Engage in continued professional development and maintain competencies in line with professional standards.
Service Improvement and Research:
Contribute to audits, research projects, and service development initiatives within the cardiology department.
Support the implementation of new technologies, techniques, and evidence-based practices.
WHAT DO YOU HAVE?
Current knowledge of a range of clinical specialties and developments in clinical practice.
Experience of customer care, including interacting with customers in challenging situations.
A degree in Clinical physiology or equivalent / ONC / BTEC in physiological measurement and medical physics.
Device qualification.
