We have an opportunity for a Occupational Therapist to join their team of staff in the Physiotherapy department.

This is a bank role working on an as and when required basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.

Main duties of the job

Duties of this role include:

Undertake comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, cognitive, emotional, and environmental needs. Develop and implement individualised treatment and rehabilitation plans to promote independence and participation in daily life. Provide interventions such as functional skills training, cognitive rehabilitation, equipment provision, and adaptations. Work closely with physiotherapists, nurses, doctors, and other allied health professionals to support integrated care and safe discharge planning. Attend MDT meetings and contribute to clinical decision-making and goal setting. Liaise with patients, families, and carers to ensure involvement in care plans and support needs.

Clinical Assessment and Intervention

Multidisciplinary Collaboration

Work closely with physiotherapists, nurses, doctors, and other allied health professionals tosupport integrated care and safe discharge planning.

Attend MDT meetings and contribute to clinical decision-making and goal setting.

Liaise with patients, families, and carers to ensure involvement in care plans and support needs.

Discharge and Community Planning

Support timely and safe discharge by assessing home environments and making recommendations for equipment, support, or adaptations.

Provide education and training to patients and carers to support self-management and ongoing recovery.

Refer patients to appropriate community services, social care, or voluntary sector organisations.

Documentation and Governance

Maintain accurate, timely, and professional clinical records in line with HCPC and organisational standards.

Contribute to risk assessments and care planning in accordance with safeguarding and clinical governance frameworks.

Participate in audit, quality improvement, and service evaluation initiatives.

Professional Development and Education

Maintain professional registration and complete relevant CPD activities to enhance clinical knowledge and skills.

Participate in supervision, in-service training, and peer support activities.

Contribute to the training and mentoring of students or junior colleagues.

Equipment and Environmental Support

Assess and prescribe assistive devices, splints, or environmental modifications to support functional independence.

Provide advice on manual handling, postural management, and safe use of mobility aids.

Monitor the effectiveness of interventions and adjust treatment accordingly

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist. BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy or equivalent recognised qualification. Experience working in a clinical rehabilitation, acute, or community setting. Excellent communication, assessment, and planning skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Experience in a specialist area such as neuro, orthopaedics, elderly care, or mental health. Knowledge of equipment provision and minor/major home adaptations. Familiarity with electronic health records and therapy documentation systems. Experience working in private healthcare or across a range of clinical pathways.
