Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join our dynamic and well-established Emergency Department team. This role offers an excellent pathway for motivated clinicians looking to take the next step in their career, developing advanced clinical skills within a fast-paced and supportive environment.

There is an expectation that you will successfully complete your training programme in 3 years. You will be supported with 15 hours non clinical time per week and required to work clinically 22.5 hours per week for years 1 and 2, subject to change dependent on clinical and academic requirements. These hours will be between the hours of Monday - Friday 0900-1700 hours whilst in years 1 and 2 but subject to change when on rotation to other areas outside of Acute Medicine. In year 3, you will be expected to work 37.5 hours in clinical practice to consolidate your learning and complete your dissertation. Once you have completed all of your internal competences and academic study/exams successfully, you will then undergo a sign off appraisal where you will progress to a Trained ACP role at a Band 8a if all of the above are met.

Once you commence into a trained ACP role, you will then be required to cover a 24/7 rota in line with Service need and working requirements.

Main duties of the job

Deliver and participate in the clinical care of patients attending the Emergency Department and inpatients of the Trust Prioritise health needs and intervenes appropriately To be professionally and legally accountable for all work undertaken to practice at an advanced level of professional autonomy and accountability that is within Trust policies and the Nursing and Midwifery Code of Conduct (2008) or Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Provide a level of advanced and comprehensive health assessment based on a specialist body of knowledge.

Person Specification

Experience Essential

Extensive post registration experience of which is evidenced by clinical experience within Emergency Acute Medicine at Band 6 level or above Evidence of extensive professional / clinical knowledge in Emergency / Acute Medicine / Critical Care environment supplemented by specialist clinical training and CPD Evidence of effective people management and leadership skills

Desirable

Evidence of involvement of policy and clinical practice change

Qualifications Essential

Demonstrate ability to work / study at Masters level and complete associated academic qualification for a role within a set timeframe Current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration (NMC) or Current Health and Care Professions Council registration (HCPC)
