Job summary
Ward A9L are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic Band 6 Deputy Leader to join our dynamic and friendly team.
Ward A9L is part of the Older Persons Continuing Care (OPCC) pathway as part of Older Persons Services (OPS). We aim to provide the highest standard of care. We work closely as an MDT with Therapists, Doctors, Nursing staff and Pharmacy. We try to involve patients and their relatives in their care as much as possible.
There are opportunities to develop your confidence and your clinical skills in a supportive environment, to building and extend your existing managerial and clinical knowledge.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination of flow, patient safety and staff on the ward.
You will be able to demonstrate a high level of knowledge and skills including being proficient in extended clinical roles expected in the care of the acute patient. As the Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse it is expected you can make justified decisions in the absence of the Sister, and partake in holding the medical bleep, including bed meetings and safe staffing.
You will need to be able to work well under pressure and build strong and effective communication links with the Clinical Site Team, Emergency Department, Management and the Multi-Disciplinary Teams, including the management and escalation of the "Stranded Patient".
You will organise and be responsible for staff appraisal, training, support and development for staff on the ward.
Additionally, you will be responsible for addressing and resolving complaints, sickness management and adverse incidents.
