Job summary Lead the Future of Haematology Pharmacy Services at Leeds Cancer Centre!

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced and motivated pharmacist. You will lead a dynamic and evolving team by joining the Medicines Management and Pharmacy Services department as the Clinical Pharmacy Team Leader for Haematology, based at the renowned Leeds Cancer Centre in Bexley Wing at St Jamess University Hospital. You will provide operational and professional leadership to pharmacists delivering specialist haematology services, while championing excellence in clinical practice, workforce development, and service improvement. In addition to leading within haematology, you will be team leader for select additional clinical pharmacy teams, applying your leadership skills across broader clinical and operational portfolios. This role offers the chance to shape services, support staff development, and contribute to strategic initiatives across the organisation.

Leeds Cancer Centre is one of the UKs leading tertiary specialist centres. Our multidisciplinary teams provide highly specialised care for patients across Leeds and the wider Yorkshire region, supporting individuals with a broad range of haematological conditions.

Main duties of the job Provide expert opinion, both within and outside pharmacy, to ensure the safe and effective delivery of drug therapy to defined clinical areas. Provide pharmaceutical professional leadership for defined clinical areas by liaison with pharmacy operational services and key members of the CSU. Be responsible for professional leadership for specified area of Trust e.g. locality hospital. The post holder will also perform the role of a lead clinical pharmacist to a defined clinical area. In this role, the post holder will ensure medicines are used appropriately, safely, and cost-effectively in accordance with Trust policy, standard operating procedures and medicine legislation. The post holder is expected to determine how the outcomes are best achieved in specific circumstances. Manage a team of specialist pharmacists providing clinical pharmacy services to the defined clinical areas and CSUs Responsible for the provision of information to the CSUs regarding clinical and financial governance, and issues around service delivery and future developments Responsible for the co-ordination of training for pharmacists and other healthcare professionals on aspects of drug use within defined clinical specialities. The Cancer Services Pharmacy Team plays a pivotal role in ensuring that some of the most complex and innovative treatments delivered within Leeds Teaching Hospitals are provided safely, efficiently, and with a strong focus on patient-centred care. Our team is comprised of highly experienced cancer pharmacists who work in close partnership with the wider multidisciplinary team to continually enhance patient outcomes and service delivery. This team is at the forefront of advancing patient care, supporting the delivery of cutting-edge therapies including CAR-T cell therapy, haematopoietic stem cell transplantation, and a wide range of specialist haematology treatments. We also host a substantial research portfolio and are home to the National Highly Specialised Paroxysmal Nocturnal Haemoglobinuria (PNH) Service, providing unique opportunities to contribute to pioneering clinical practice and innovation.

You will work collaboratively with the Clinical Pharmacy Team Leader for Oncology, the Lead SACT Pharmacist and the Consultant Pharmacist for Cancer Services, along with a host of other pharmacy leaders, particularly those working in preparative services, clinical trials and ward services.

What you will bring to the role Essential criteria: MRPharms + Postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent; Understanding and appreciation of local and national pharmaceutical and clinical strategies; Advanced clinical pharmacy knowledge in a relevant area; Very significant relevant post registration clinical pharmacy experience; Understanding of NHS/government policy and its applications; Be highly adaptive to changing circumstances and situations; Be able to plan effectively both own workload and that of specialist team

Desirable criteria: Non medical prescriber status; Team dynamics and effective leadership strategies to optimise performance; Highly developed influencing and negotiating skills; Effective prioritisation skills
