Job summary Clinical Fellow in the department of Paediatric Congenital Cardiac Surgery

We are inviting applications to fill our Clinical Fellow vacancy at The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in Department of Congenital Cardiac Service. This post will commence asap and is fixed term for 1 year.

Candidates must be fully registered with the General Medical Council and hold a license to practice by the intended start date.

Main duties of the job The Congenital Cardiac Service at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust is based at the Leeds General Infirmary. Both the Children's and Adult services are located at this site, as well as all necessary supporting services.

The department is a supra-regional service, serving a population of 5.5 million in the Yorkshire and North Trent region. The annual workload of the department is recovering after the pandemic and aiming at 500 operations comprising neonates, infants, children and adults with congenital heart disease. This post supports the Consultant Congenital Cardiac Surgeons and works very closely with the Paediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiologists, the Intensive Care Units and the wider multi-disciplinary team.

Leeds Children's Hospital covers 27 medical and surgical specialties and is one of the largest specialist children's hospitals in the country. We have over 20 inpatient wards, employ over 800 nurses and last year held over 170,000 outpatient appointments and treated over 25,000 surgical patients both electively/non-electively.

What you will bring to the role The post holder will assist the Consultant Surgeons in the operating theatre for 2-3 days per week and supports the Cardiac ICU's and wards. They will attend the weekly multidisciplinary meeting and departmental audit meetings. They will attend one outpatient clinic per week.

The post holder will participate in the 1:4 non-resident on call rota for the Congenital Cardiac Surgery Service.
