About this role

Job summary

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic Podiatrist/Orthotist with a proven track record in innovation to fulfil the role of Deputy Head of Podiatry/Orthotics Manager in Hywel Dda Health Board.

The successful candidate must have substantial clinical experience in Podiatry service and demonstrable up to date experience of advanced practice in clinical work.

Main duties of the job

Providing professional leadership and management of staff within the department, ensuring that all services are delivered to recognised national and Health Care standards. Assist the Head of Service with the strategic development, modernisation, and innovation of the service and lead its implementation within a variety of settings, working closely with key stakeholders and partners deputise for the Head of Service at both operational and strategic levels within the Health Board and with local partners as required. Work with the Head of Service and other service leads to ensure that all policies, procedures, and financial processes for the service are in line with national standards and are implemented equitably across the service. Manage a clinical caseload of clients with complex needs at an advanced clinical level using evidence-based practice. Lead the clinical governance agenda within the department, promoting clinically effective practice and adherence to HCPC/professionalstandards.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Knowledge Essential

Recognised Podiatric Master's Degree qualification (clinical / management) or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience Registered member of Health and Care Professions Council, Registered member of Royal College of Podiatry and knowledge of professional standards and codes of conduct and their practical application Completion of Management qualification or equivalent evidence of management development e.g. leadership/coaching/mentoring Detailed evidence of highly specialist knowledge within a specific clinical area of Podiatric Advanced Clinical Practice Understanding of financial processes Knowledge and evidence of service development, policy, planning and implementing national and local service policies

Experience Essential

Substantial clinical experience in Podiatry service including experience as a team lead/clinical lead/manager Experience in developing clinical governance strategies for whole team/service Demonstrable up to date experience of advanced practice in clinical work

Desirable

Evidence of research experience or published work Experience in workforce development and skill mix

Other Essential

Ability to travel across the Health Board area in a timely manner Demonstrates understanding of own scope of practice Able to set priorities and meet daily deadlines
