About this role

Job summary

The Mechanical Team Leader will be part of a team ensuring that mechanical/electrical/building equipment and services are maintained to an appropriate standard and to support clinical service departments in their prime task of treating patients.

The appointed individual will support the site operational management staff with the day to day operational engineering maintenance of boilers, steam systems, medical gases, heating, hot water, buildings, etc. The position requires participation in an on-call rota.

Main duties of the job

To provide a safe, comfortable environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Ensuring all essential services are maintained to support clinical departments in their task of treating patients, whilst ensuring all statutory legislation is complied with.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and Knowledge Essential

Level 3 vocational qualification in a mechanical engineering discipline (or equivalent), plus evidence of relevant on the job training Evidence of continuing professional development Knowledge of heating, ventilation, water, drainage, and pressure systems Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work Understanding of HTMs, SHTMs, and statutory compliance

Additional specialist or supervisory qualifications

Experience Essential

Significant experience working with mechanical building services Proven experience in fault diagnosis and mechanical repair Experience of supervising or supporting other staff Experience working safely within complex environments

Experience working within NHS or healthcare estates Experience of Medical Gas Pipeline Systems

Participation in on-call rota Ability to travel between multiple Health Board sites
