Job summary
We are seeking two motivated and experienced Pharmacy Technicians to join the Medicines Optimisation (MO) function within NHS North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board.
The Medicines Optimisation Team plays a central role in supporting these ambitions by ensuring the safe, effective and cost-efficient use of medicines across the system. This role offers the opportunity to work across a broad portfolio spanning insight, strategy, commissioning and corporate priorities, contributing to improvement at scale.

Main duties of the job
This is a system-level role within a strategic commissioning environment. You will support the development, implementation and monitoring of commissioning strategies to optimise medicines use and improve population health outcomes. The postholder will analyse complex prescribing and population health data to identify variation, inform decision-making and shape commissioning priorities. You will contribute to the design and delivery of evidence-based pathways, policies and service specifications that support high-quality and cost-effective care.
Working collaboratively with partners across primary care, community and secondary care, you will help drive quality improvement and medicines safety initiatives. You will also provide technical expertise and contribute to governance, quality and assurance processes, ensuring services meet regulatory requirements and deliver measurable outcomes.

Job Summary/ Purpose The purpose of the role is:
To be an active member of the ICB medicines optimisation team and support the development and implementation and monitoring of ICB medicines optimisation strategy for effective medicines use. Contribute to the implementation of the ICB medicines optimisation work plan. Support the production and analysis of prescribing and financial data to inform the provision of a high-quality, cost-effective use of medicines within the ICB and by prescribers (medical & non-medical). To utilise available prescribing data at ICB level and practice level tofacilitate appropriate, rational and cost-effective prescribing and produce reports for the medicines optimisation team and wider ICB. To work closely with and provide highly specialised professionalpharmaceutical advice to ICB, localities, GP member practices, providers and patients, and effectively input to decisions that relate to medicines optimisation. Qualifications Essential
Knowledge of pharmaceutical technical procedures for specialist area to degree or equivalent level acquired though training. Qualified Technician registered with the GPhC Technician with NVQ3 or BTEC National Diploma in Pharmaceutical Services/Sciences, or equivalent qualification Demonstration of Continued Professional development

Full driving licence with access to a vehicle

Significant experience of working in pharmacy or medicines optimisation Significant experience of communicating and engaging effectively with external agencies/stakeholder Experience of using performance management/improvement systems. Knowledge and experience of programme or project management.
