About this role

Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced secretary/administrator to join the Sheffield Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Service. It is an exciting, fast paced role, working within a supportive and friendly team.

The post is 30 hours a week and is a permanent position.

The successful candidate will be based in the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals SLT service working as a member of the team providing admin support to the SLT teams working in acute, outpatients, stroke, and community.

Main duties of the job

To provide secretarial and administrative support and to ensure effective and efficient maintenance of administrative systems and procedures required by the Speech and Language Therapy Team using Connect, SystmOne and other NHS systems.

The SLT service across both the acute and community teams in STH has approximately 55 staff (47 therapists, 7 assistants and 4 secretarial staff) (41.23wte).

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

GCSE English Language Grade C/4 or above or equivalent qualifications/experience Typewriting/secretarial qualification or equivalent qualification/experience

Desirable

NVQ3, RSA3, ECDL or equivalent experience or qualifications

Experience Essential

Experience of secretarial, administrative and clerical tasks. Experience of working in a busy office environment with an understanding of administrative and clerical procedures.

Desirable

Experience of working in the NHS in a medical or patient environment. Experience of working with the general public.

Good knowledge of the TPP (SystmOne) Good knowledge of Connect EPR

Skills Essential

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages. Ability to organise and prioritise a wide range of tasks, meeting deadlines and to work unsupervised Ability to communicate effectively, with a clear speaking voice. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Good attendance and time-keeping. Flexibility in approach to changes in service needs Ability to be pro-active, show initiative and take responsibility.
