Job summary
An exciting permanent opportunity has arisen for a Sister / Charge Nurse (AFC band 6) post on Chesterman 1 within South Yorkshire Regional Services.
Chesterman 1 is a busy Cardiology ward which provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic and treatment services for the management of all aspects and presentations of coronary heart disease. The team works with specialised services within cardiology to provide holistic integrated treatments serving both local and regional districts including Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, Doncaster and Bassetlaw.
Applicants will have extensive experience in Cardiology and must have completed the Cardiology competency package, or equivalent and have proven leadership skills and be able to work autonomously as well as in a team. The applicant must possess excellent organisational & communication skills, be flexible, approachable, hard-working and have the ability to work well under pressure.

Main duties of the job
This is a pivotal role, where you will:
Provide leadership and management for the Chesterman 1 patient provision. Support the Senior Sister in ensuring that the highest standard and quality of nursing care is delivered. Be a role model for all and contribute effectively to inter-professional working.

Has relevant experience at Band 5 within a Cardiology setting. Has the ability to lead, motivate and develop a professional team. Can be released immediately from their current role and has their line managers permission to apply

Education and Qualifications Essential
RGN Level one NMC registered To have completed the national practice assessor training or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998. Continuous professional development

First degree or working towards
Experience Essential
Extensive post registration experience Relevant experience at Band 5 within a cardiology setting Ability to work, motivate and develop a professional team

Experience of working with elective cardiology admissions Experience within cardiology pre-admission
Skills and Knowledge Essential
Ability to communicate effectively including active listening, writing, and verbally, with individuals on a one-to-one basis and with groups. Good understanding of the national strategic context of the NHS Excellent performance management skills. Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to form positive relationships at all levels. Ability to manage complex workload under pressure and prioritise to meet deadlines Persuasion and influencing skills - ability to present ideas and proposals effectively.
