Salary: £30,000 - 35,000 per year
Requirements
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics or a related subject, or equivalent practical experience
- Strong foundations in Python development
- Understanding of web development and REST APIs
- Knowledge of SQL and relational databases
- Experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- Familiarity with Git or other version control systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Up to two years of commercial experience, a completed placement year, or recent-graduate status
- Nice to have: exposure to Django or Flask through university projects, internships or personal projects
- Nice to have: experience with AWS or Google Cloud Platform
- Nice to have: knowledge of Docker and CI/CD concepts
- Nice to have: exposure to Pandas, NumPy, R or machine learning
- Nice to have: interest in scientific, healthcare, biotech or data-focused environments
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Python-based applications and REST APIs
- Build and enhance web applications using frameworks such as Django and Flask
- Work with SQL databases, including PostgreSQL and MySQL
- Support data processing and automation tools used in analytical workflows
- Contribute to testing, debugging and software quality initiatives
- Work with cloud technologies, including AWS and Google Cloud Platform
- Use Git and participate in collaborative development and code reviews
- Learn modern deployment practices, Docker and CI/CD processes
