Job summary Job Summary The Switchboard Service at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust plays a critical role in managing all incoming communications across multiple hospital sites, ensuring patient safety and operational continuity 24/7.

We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and proactive Switchboard Supervisor to join our patient-centred team, based at Leeds General Infirmary. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with strong leadership skills to support the operational management and development of a high-performing switchboard team.

Main duties of the job Why you should join our Team The successful candidate will support the day-to-day supervision and line management of Switchboard Operators, contributing to the delivery of a comprehensive and responsive communication service. You will play a key role in maintaining service standards, supporting staff, and ensuring compliance with Trust policies and procedures.

This is a fully flexible post within a 24/7 service, involving 12-hour shifts across days, evenings, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.

The Post-holder will be responsible for supervising on a day to day basis a large team of Switchboard Operators and to support the Switchboard Team leader. The post holder must be able to communicate sensitively and effectively with a wide range of people including patients, medical and nursing staff, other patient administration colleagues and other outside agencies in addition to other departments throughout the Trust.

The post holder will assist in the organisation of the Departmental teams workload and provide a comprehensive telecoms service to ensure the delivery of a coordinated and consistent communication management service.

Provide day to day supervision of switchboard operators, monitoring staffing levels on a daily basis and adjusting when and where necessary to provide appropriate staff cover.

Be involved in the recruitment and retention of staff ensuring that all new staff receive an appropriate induction and training to enable them to carry out their duties.
