Job summary Job Summary We are looking to recruit a 0.6 WTE Lead Consultant Clinical Psychologist (Paediatric Neuropsychology) in the Department of Paediatric Psychology (DPP), Leeds Childrens Hospital. This substantive post is based at the Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) and whilst the post offers working time flexibilities, attendance on-site at least two days per week is essential. The post-holder will lead the Paediatric Neuropsychology Team, which is one of four clinical teams in the DPP. The team currently consists of two Principal Paediatric Neuropsychologists, one Senior Clinical Psychologist, an Early Career Clinical Psychologist and an Assistant Psychologist.
Recently the service underwent external review, and the post holder will lead on actioning the recommendations of the review with the Head of Department and other Consultant Team Leads where appropriate.
Clinically, your role will involve development and oversight of the referral pathways and access targets, monitoring performance and efficiencies together with the Head of Department and Business Manager. You will also offer a wider range of clinical experiences, including face to face assessments, therapy and supervision. As a senior member of the Department, your role will contribute to the leadership, management and meeting the strategic objectives of the department.
Main duties of the job Why you should join our Team The post-holder will be joining The Department of Paediatric Psychology (DPP), with over 38 clinicians, organised in four sectors of care: Long Term Conditions, Surgery & Oncology, Cardiology & Critical Care, and Paediatric Neuropsychology. You will be line managed by the Head of Department. The Department is academically ambitious with good links to Yorkshire and Humber Region DClinPsych Training Programmes as well as the Schools of Medicine and Psychology at the University of Leeds. Scholarly activity is an important part of what we do, and the successful candidate will be encouraged to engage in academic opportunities.

What you will bring to the role
Experience of specialist psychological and neuropsychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in-patient settings. In particular, experience of providing neuropsychology within a paediatric regional neurology centre is crucial for this post.
Experience of working with a wide variety of CYP and families and presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
Further training in a specialised area of clinical practice through formal post-doctoral training (diploma or equivalent) or a combination of specialist short courses together with an evidenced portfolio of supervised practice-based learning in a specialist area of clinical practice as assessed by an experienced clinical supervisor to be of equivalent level to a postgraduate diploma.
Experience of selecting, administering and interpreting a wide range of neuropsychological tests to provide neuropsychological assessment within the context of paediatric neurological or neurosurgical presentations.
Completion of a clinical supervisor training sufficient to be able to supervise doctoral trainees.
Assessed experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist including post-qualification experience within the designated specialty where the post is located.
Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for patients’ psychological care and treatment, both as a professionally qualified care co-ordinator (or equivalent in physical health care setting) and also within the context of a multi-disciplinary care plan.
Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision.
