We are excited to launch our state-of-the-art Cancer and Surgical Innovation Centre, designed to transform elective surgical care and increase our capacity for elective surgery.
This purpose-built facility features:
6 modern operating theatres equipped with advanced surgical technology 12 dedicated recovery bays providing high-quality post-operative care A streamlined elective surgical pathway focused on safety, efficiency, and patient experience which are aligned with our Trust values. The multiple PACU's at Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust provide post-operative care for a wide range of surgical specialities including; Robotics, Gynae Oncology, Brachy Therapy, Hepato-biliarily and Maxillo Facial surgery to name but a few.
Main duties of the job
To be a clinical specialist in the field of post-operative nursing / operating department practice.
This is a key role within the Trust with responsibility for the management of multiple areas of PACU, in addition to maintaining clinical input.
The post holder will be a team leader in a specialist in the PACU clinical area and will be responsible for providing clinical management, advice, support and teaching to all relevant personnel within the post-operative environment.
They will have responsibility for managing, leading, encouraging and directing the post-operative team, to promote evidence based clinical practice, ensuring the provision of a high quality and cost effective service to patients and service users.

GENERAL
- Full management of the designated areas of PACU.
- Support training and development both within the specialist area of responsibility and the theatre department.
- Manage and lead a multidisciplinary team, members of which may change on a daily basis, ensuring high quality research based individualised patient care is maintained at all times.
- Teach trained staff and students within the clinical area.
- Implement local and national guidelines and recommendations, which relate to post-operative care.
- Ensure identification and assessment of patients needs, assessing their requirements, planning and implementation of care, providing specialist advice on post-operative care.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Registered Nurse/Anaesthetic practitionar educated to Degree Level Demonstratable experience in PACU as a Band 6 Practice Assessor IV Additives Intermediate Life Support (ILS) Paediatric Intermediate Life Support (PILS)
Desirable
Registered Nurse/Anaesthetic practitionar educated to Masters Level Management Course ALERT Advanced Life Support Paediatric Advanced Life Support or European Paediatric Advanced Life Support
Knowledge Essential
Demonstrable experience in Post Anaesthetic Care, HDU or Critical Care Experience at Band 5 CPD - Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development Ability to liaise with other members of the multi-disciplinary team Evidence of Advanced Skills in Practice i.e. IV Additives
Desirable
Knowledge of Clinical Governance Management of Staff and Resources
