We are excited to invite applications to join our trust as a Locum Consultant in General Medicine, with specialist interest. The job will include joining a small team of general medical consultants to look after patients on a 20-cubicled ward as well as medical outliers.

Main duties of the job
The general physician(s) will be responsible for providing consultant cover for the medical patients on Guildford Ward and outlying patients on two specialist wards and the emergency department. The key duties and responsibilities of the post will be:
Clinical and administrative responsibility for patients on Guildford Ward. Early and appropriate clinical decision making for emergency admissions. Supervision of medical admissions through the Guildford ward and on the medical take. Promoting flow through from the Emergency Department. Recruitment, supervision and training of junior medical staff and allied health professionals working in the units. Ensuring that resuscitation and end of life care issues are appropriately and sensitively managed. Development of clinical pathwaysDelivery of clinical audits and quality improvement relevant to the needs of the department. Recruitment and active involvement with clinical trials in both units. Participate on the GIM on call rota.

Full registration and a license to practice with the GMC Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for General Internal Medicine (GIM) via CCT or Portfolio Pathway MBBS or equivalent Educational Supervisor qualification
Desirable
Postgraduate degree e.g. MSc MD PhD Out of programme management experience (e.g. Deanery secondment) Teaching/Education qualification Appraiser qualification Qualification in leadership and/ or clinical management
Experience Essential
Extensive experience of general medicine Wide experience of General Internal Medicine including multidisciplinary working Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching experience
