Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Band 5 Nurse/Perioperative Practitioner to join the dynamic Adult Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) at the LGI. Our PACU supports a diverse range of surgical specialties including vascular, plastics, orthopaedics, ENT, obstetrics and neurosurgery giving you the chance to build broad, valuable experience while caring for patients with varied and often complex needs. No two days are the same, and youll be part of a team that thrives on challenge, teamwork and highquality care.
Main duties of the job As a Band 5, you will play a key role in ensuring safe, effective recovery for patients emerging from anaesthesia. Youll work closely with an experienced multidisciplinary team, including anaesthetists, surgeons, theatre staff, patient flow coordinators and ward teams, developing strong collaborative skills and confidence in clinical decisionmaking. All applicants are required to have current UK NMC registration, with evidence of registrant clinical practice in the UK, or be a final-year nursing student studying in the UK.

What you will bring to the role Key Responsibilities
Deliver highquality, compassionate postoperative care to a diverse range of surgical patients, including vascular, plastics, orthopaedics, ENT, obstetrics and neurosurgery.
Monitor and assess patients recovering from anaesthesia, ensuring safe airway management, effective pain control and timely escalation of concerns. Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team — including theatre staff, anaesthetists, surgeons, ward teams and patient flow coordinators — to support smooth and safe patient journeys. Contribute to maintaining a safe, efficient and wellorganised PACU environment, adapting to changing clinical demands in a fastpaced setting. Support the implementation of evidencebased practice and uphold the unit’s philosophy of delivering patientcentred, safe and highquality care. Participate in ongoing professional development, building skills and confidence to progress within the PACU team. Provide support and guidance to colleagues, including students and unregistered staff, helping to promote a positive and inclusive learning environment. Maintain accurate, timely documentation and adhere to all clinical, professional and organisational standards.
