About this role

Job summary We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and compassionate Matron to provide senior clinical and professional leadership across our Neurosciences services.

Main duties of the job The post holder will be accountable for maintaining high standards of patient care, safety, and experience, while leading, supporting, and developing multidisciplinary teams delivering complex neurological and neurosurgical care.

The Neurosciences Matron will play a pivotal role in clinical governance, workforce leadership, and service improvement, working closely with medical colleagues and senior leaders to ensure care is evidence based, patient centred, and aligned with Trust priorities.

What you will bring to the role Provide visible, professional leadership across Neurosciences inpatient and outpatient service

Ensure delivery of safe, high quality, and compassionate patient care

Lead on clinical standards, patient experience, and quality improvement initiatives

Support effective workforce planning, staff wellbeing, recruitment, and development

Lead on clinical governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance

Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to support complex care pathways

Act as a role model for professional practice, leadership, and accountability

Qualifications Essential

Registered Nurse (Level 1 or 2), Registered Midwife or Registered Allied Health Professional qualification (as appropriate) Evidence of Continuing Professional Development Degree level education Willing to undergo training in relation to post Complaints management Performance management

Experience at senior level in nursing Understanding of Specialty Experience of managing staff Budgetary skills Change management Current issues in Healthcare Understanding of the underlying social, political land historical factors shaping local and national realities of health services Understanding of the politics with both a small and large p of the health and social care context
