Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to join an experienced team and help deliver ultrasound services across Leeds. The successful candidate will be based predominantly at SJUH but maybe required to rotate to other departments within the Trust. You will join the ultrasound management team to support sonographers and assistants staff across 4 departments.

Main duties of the job The role is primarily focused on team management, HR process, rostering and daily operational management. Although experience in ultrasound is beneficial, radiographers without sonography training will be considered. We are keen to support staff development and this provides the opportunity to gain further experience in management compared to traditional clinical development opportunities.

The post holder will be working in a fast paced Ultrasound department alongside a team of Sonographers and Radiologists. You will be supporting the delivery of high quality patient care, to our patients at various sites across the trust.

What you will bring to the role Provide and maintain a quality service in their designated department to agreed quality standards.

Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the ultrasound department

Be responsible for the efficient and effective utilisation of all resources within your area of responsibility.

The post holder will give specialist advice within their area of responsibility.

Be responsible for ensuring that agreed Trust protocols, standards of service and organisation of service are delivered.

Liaise closely with other departments and managers (within and outside radiology) to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the service.

Be responsible for the governance of the department in areas including: risk management, health and safety.

Support the Lead Sonographer in service improvement to deliver national and local objectives and targets.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

BSc/DCR (R) Diagnostic Radiography Valid HCPC registration Continuing Professional Development relevant to the role

Experience Essential

Significant post-graduate experience at Senior Radiographer level Leadership experience in first-line supervision or management Knowledge of all Health & Safety related regulations governing radiographic clinical practice within the designated department Evidence of sound knowledge of clinical practice and CPD to an appropriate level
