WHAT THIS ROLE IS ABOUT The primary purpose of the General Finance is to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of all financial activities across the organization's diverse chemical business portfolio, including Chemicals, Materials, Industrial Solutions, Nutrition & Care, and standalone businesses. This is achieved by executing end-to-end financial processes — from transaction control and period-end closing to financial analysis, forecasting, and regulatory reporting — while providing actionable financial insights and advisory support to management within the Production Verbund and global business units. WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT Prepares and delivers financial reports including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and regulatory filings that accurately reflect the financial position of assigned business units or legal entities within the group. Executes budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across relevant dimensions such as division, segment, product family, or legal entity, applying digital tools and SAP S/4HANA to ensure data integrity and timeliness. Monitors and controls financial transactions, accounts payable and receivable, accruals, and inventory costs to maintain compliance with BASF accounting principles and applicable regulatory standards. Analyzes revenues, liabilities, credit conditions, and cash flow indicators to produce short-, medium-, and long-term financial forecasts that support management decision-making. Ensures accurate and timely submission of tax returns, declarations, and statutory reports, coordinating with corporate tax and central finance functions as required. WHAT EXPERTISE YOU BRING A degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field provides the required academic foundation; an advanced qualification in Finance or Accounting (e.g., CPA, CIMA, or equivalent) is advantageous. Hands-on experience in financial accounting, reporting, or controlling within a large, multinational industrial or chemical company is essential, including familiarity with IFRS and local GAAP requirements. Proficiency in SAP S/4HANA or comparable ERP financial modules, combined with strong command of data analysis tools, is required to manage complex financial processes and reporting workflows. Experience collaborating across cross-functional and cross-cultural teams in a global matrix organization, including virtual collaboration with finance hubs and shared service centers, is expected. Professional proficiency in English is required; additional language skills, particularly German, are advantageous given the organization's headquarters and primary Verbund site locations.
