WHAT THIS ROLE IS ABOUT The primary purpose of the General Research is to conduct and coordinate scientific research across chemistry, material physics, and related disciplines in order to generate knowledge and innovations that feed directly into the organization's product development and process improvement pipeline. This role achieves its purpose by designing and executing experiments, characterizing materials and surfaces at the microstructural level, and translating research findings into actionable insights that support the organization's Verbund-integrated innovation and green transformation strategy. WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT Conducts experimental research and generates scientific findings on material physics, microstructures, surfaces, and organic electronics in alignment with the organization's research plan. Produces documented research outputs including laboratory reports, scientific publications, patents, and technical data packages that advance the organization's intellectual property portfolio. Coordinates research activities across cross-functional teams spanning chemistry, engineering, and application development to ensure integrated and reproducible results. Delivers assessments of new research methodologies, analytical techniques, and characterization tools to continuously improve research quality and efficiency. Ensures compliance with internal research governance standards, laboratory safety regulations, and applicable scientific integrity frameworks throughout all research activities. WHAT EXPERTISE YOU BRING A degree in chemistry, physics, materials science, or a closely related natural science discipline, with advanced degrees (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) preferred for research-intensive assignments. Demonstrated experience in experimental research within a chemical, materials, or physical sciences environment, including hands-on use of characterization techniques such as electron microscopy, spectroscopy, or X-ray diffraction. Proficiency in scientific data analysis and modeling tools, with familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and data science methods applicable to research workflows. Ability to collaborate effectively in globally distributed, multicultural research teams and to communicate complex scientific findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Professional working proficiency in English is required; additional language skills are advantageous given the global and cross-regional nature of research collaboration. WHAT DO WE OFFER?
