Data Center Field Installations Technician (L1) Location: Barber Lake, TX (Near Colorado City, TX, approximately 1 hour west of Abilene, TX)Project: AI Data Center BuildEmployment Type: Contract About the Opportunity We are supporting the deployment of a large-scale AI Data Center project in Barber Lake, TX. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-profile data center construction initiative and gain hands-on experience in a rapidly growing industry.This project serves as an initial proof-of-value engagement with a major technology client. Successful project execution may lead to long-term contract opportunities or potential contract-to-hire positions. Position Overview The Data Center Field Installations Technician (L1) is an entry-level technical role responsible for executing standardized in-rack installation activities within a data center environment. This includes rack builds, equipment installation, structured cabling, power connections, and cooling setup support.The role provides hands-on deployment support by following established procedures, technical standards, and installation documentation to ensure consistent, high-quality installations. The primary objective is to complete assigned installation activities safely, accurately, and in accordance with project timelines, quality standards, and service level expectations.This position is ideal for candidates looking to start or grow a career in data center infrastructure, cabling, and hardware deployment. Available Shifts Multiple technicians are needed across all shifts.First Shift
• 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM Second Shift
• 3:00 PM - 12:00 AM Third Shift
• 11:00 PM - 8:00 AM Key Responsibilities Rack Installation & Hardware Deployment
• Perform rack assembly and preparation, including: • Rail kits • PDUs (Power Distribution Units) • Cable management systems • Equipment labeling
• Rack and stack servers, network equipment, and storage hardware according to design specifications. • Install hardware utilizing established deployment standards and procedures. Structured Cabling
• Execute copper and fiber optic cabling installations. • Route, dress, secure, and label cables according to project standards. • Maintain organized cable pathways and proper cable management practices. Power & Infrastructure
• Connect A/B power feeds following defined redundancy standards. • Assist with rack infrastructure preparation and deployment activities. Cooling & Airflow Support
• Install blanking panels and airflow management components for DX-cooled environments. • Support airflow optimization through proper cable routing and rack organization. • Assist with direct-to-chip (D2C) liquid cooling installations under supervision, including: • Hose routing • Quick disconnect installation • Basic cooling infrastructure support
Quality & Documentation
• Follow installation documentation, diagrams, Method of Procedures (MOPs), and standard operating procedures. • Perform basic quality inspections and identify installation discrepancies. • Report issues, deficiencies, or risks to supervisors. • Maintain clean, organized racks and work areas to support efficient operations. Health & Safety Responsibilities
• Comply with all data center safety policies, procedures, and permit-to-work requirements. • Utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including: • Safety shoes • Gloves • Eye protection
• Follow proper lifting and manual material handling practices. • Adhere to electrical safety standards when working with power connections under supervision. • Follow safety procedures associated with direct-to-chip liquid cooling systems, including leak awareness and reporting requirements. • Maintain excellent housekeeping practices to eliminate trip hazards and workplace risks. • Immediately report hazards, near misses, incidents, or unsafe conditions. Required Qualifications
• Basic understanding of data center environments and IT hardware. • Familiarity with structured cabling practices, including copper and/or fiber cabling. • Understanding of rack infrastructure components such as: • PDUs • Rail kits • Cable management systems
• Basic knowledge of airflow management within data center environments. • Exposure to DX cooling or direct-to-chip (D2C) liquid cooling is a plus. • Ability to follow technical drawings, installation documentation, and standard operating procedures. • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn. • Ability to perform physical installation activities, including: • Lifting equipment • Working in confined rack spaces • Standing for extended periods
• Understanding of workplace safety practices within technical or construction environments. Top Required Skills

Training and supervision will be provided to support successful onboarding and project execution. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Colorado City, TX. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
