Clinical Educator Band 6 - Full time

An exciting role has become available within the Medical Education Undergraduate Department. This is a progressive post moving to Band 7 on the completion of the required competencies

The medical education clinical educator role within undergraduate medical education is part of a well-established team delivering clinical teaching to medical students across the five years of the Newcastle and HYMS curricula. The post holder is expected to collaborate with the clinical teaching leads to organise and deliver clinical teaching sessions, evaluate and plan future education as well as mentoring and pastoral support of students. They will be instrumental in ensuring that the curriculum is being delivered successfully at South Tees Foundation Trust (STFT).

Main duties of the job

Utilising different educational techniques in delivering practical and theoretical teaching in clinical skills and other aspects of patient safety.

Delivery of programmes through contemporary healthcare education, promote and maintain , multi-professional team working, effective communication, optimal patient safety and robust infection control practices.

Collaborating with and develop effective working partnerships with other members of the medical education undergraduate department and wider team to deliver education and training in clinical skills and curriculum delivery

Working independently and collaboratively to ensure effective organisation, design, delivery and ongoing development of educational programmes.

Facilitating the development and acquisition of skills and knowledge within an inter-professional educational context.

The post holder will promote a proactive approach to education, learning and maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Person Specification

Knolwedge & Skills Essential

oSignificant post registration experience in an acute clinical setting oProven experience of delivering clinical skills training & support in a variety of settings oCan demonstrate awareness of Quality and Safety Agenda in relation to patient care oProven skills in delivery, facilitation and development of training programmes oAbility to respond to or escalate clinical questions/queries from all levels of clinical staff oCan demonstrate an awareness & implementation of Risk Management & Clinical Governance strategies oEvidence of sound verbal & written communication

Qualifications & Training Essential

oRegistered Nurse, or AHP Registered with the NMC or registered HCPC oDegree level Nurse/ health care professional

Experience Essential

oClinical experience of working with acutely ill patients oUnderstanding of Clinical Governance oEvidence of financial awareness & efficient use of resources (e.g. people, equipment, training approaches) oEvidence of teaching experience oEvidence of exposure to different groups/teaching methods oKnowledge of undergraduate curriculum
