About this role
Job summary We are looking to appoint health care support Assistants who are enthusiastic, motivated with a passion for caring to join our dedicated Team on Yeovil's Acute Medical Unit. The unit is a short-stay assessment ward for patients who need urgent medical careAs a health care Assistant you will work as part of a large multidisciplinary team and will play a key role in delivering the fundamentals of care for patients under the supervision of a nurse, whilst supporting patients to achieve the shared goals. Individuals should be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills who are willing to learn and take on new challenges as the service develops.
Main duties of the job
Experience of working in a care setting would be advantageous but all necessary skills training, professional updates and mandatory training as appropriate to the post will be provided.

Qualifications Essential
English language GCSE grade C and above or equivalent. Good level of conversational English
Desirable
Mathematics GCSE grade C and above or equivalent. Prepare to care / NVQ in care / BETEC in healthcare
Experience Essential
Able to demonstrate that you would be able to work within our Trust values - delivering outstanding care, by working together with kindness, respect and teamwork. Have basic computer / keyboard skills. Able to communicate well face to face, telephone and email.
Desirable
Previous recent experience of working within an acute/ community setting. Able to demonstrate an ability to develop rapport and show empathy and sensitivity Able to build good working relationships with colleagues
Additional Criteria Essential
Able to prioritise and organise work, to work under instruction and under own initiative within the boundaries of the role and as part of a team. Able to work under pressure and in a busy environment. Ability to undertake manual handling training to assist the movement and handling of patients adhering to manual handling guidelines. Assist and enable patients with all activities of daily living, to eat and drink, use toilet facilities and use of mobility using aids. Demonstrate respect for confidentiality at all times.
