Job Title: Machine OperatorJob DescriptionAs a Machine Operator, you set up and operate flexographic printing and die-cutting equipment, manage materials and inks, and ensure consistent, high-quality print production. You monitor and adjust press settings during runs, perform routine cleaning and troubleshooting, and maintain accurate production and quality records while following established safety procedures. Responsibilities • Set up and change over press equipment, including installing and removing cylinders, anilox rollers, sleeves, and die-cutters, and preparing robotic take-off systems. • Load and handle large paperboard rolls safely and efficiently to support continuous production. • Dispense ink formulas and adjust colors using matching software to achieve specified color standards. • Monitor print quality throughout production, including registration and color consistency, and make timely adjustments to maintain required standards. • Perform cleaning of trays, rollers, and related components to keep equipment in optimal operating condition. • Replace doctor blades and print heads as needed to minimize downtime and maintain print quality. • Troubleshoot press and equipment issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to reduce production interruptions. • Document production activities, quality checks, and any adjustments made, ensuring accurate and complete records. • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company policies and procedures. • Learn and apply new procedures and techniques as processes and equipment evolve. • Collaborate with pre-press staff and other machine operators to coordinate workflow and meet production schedules. Essential Skills • Minimum 2 years of experience in flexographic printing, operating a printing press, or working with die-cutting equipment. • Hands-on experience with flexography and printing press operation. • Knowledge of ink systems and plate mounting processes. • Knowledge of die-cutting processes and related equipment. • Ability to perform basic math calculations and measurements accurately. • Ability to use color matching software to adjust and maintain ink colors. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining print quality. • Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Comfort working in a unionized, team-oriented production environment. • Willingness to work afternoon shifts (3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.) as the primary focus. • Openness to work day (7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) and night (11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.) shifts as required. • Adaptability to learn new procedures, technologies, and equipment over time. • Strong communication skills to coordinate with pre-press staff and other machine operators. Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a unionized production environment, working alongside approximately 10–12 colleagues in pre-press and machine operation. The main focus is the afternoon shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with additional day (7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) and night (11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.) shifts available. The facility emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and teamwork, with clear procedures and union representation supporting a structured and collaborative work setting. Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Brampton, ON. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $57990.40 - $57990.40/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
