Job Title: PainterJob DescriptionThis role focuses on completing painting and blasting procedures for a variety of products, including mobile water tanks, trailers, dump bodies, stationary structures, and individual components. You prepare surfaces, mix and adjust paints to match specified or original colors, and apply coatings that meet quality, safety, and durability standards in a demanding industrial environment. Responsibilities • Complete painting and blasting procedures for mobile water tanks, trailers, dump bodies, stationary structures, and piece work according to established specifications and quality standards. • Prepare surfaces for paint application by removing grease, dirt, old paint, and rust using abrasives, solvents, brushes, washing tanks, or sandblasting equipment. • Match paint colors to specifications or original colors and mix, stir, and thin paints using spatulas or mixing equipment to achieve proper consistency. • Pour paint into spray guns and adjust nozzles, pressure, and paint mixtures to ensure correct paint flow, coverage, and coating thickness. • Apply primers and finish coats to industrial equipment and structures, ensuring even application and adherence to safety and quality requirements. • Use industrial painting tools and equipment safely and efficiently, including spray guns, sandblasters, and related machinery. • Inspect painted surfaces for defects, runs, or insufficient coverage and perform touch-ups or rework as needed. • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of paints, solvents, and other materials. • Follow all safety procedures, including the use of ear protection when working near loud machinery and adherence to guidelines for working outdoors in varying weather conditions. • Perform physically demanding tasks such as standing, bending, and climbing for extended periods to access all areas of the products being painted. Essential Skills • At least 2 years of experience in commercial or industrial painting. • Strong knowledge of industrial painting equipment, tools, and spray systems. • Ability to perform priming and finish application on a variety of industrial products and structures. • Ability to properly prepare surfaces using abrasives, solvents, brushes, washing tanks, or sandblasters. • Skill in mixing, stirring, and thinning paints to match specified or original colors and achieve proper consistency. • Ability to adjust spray gun nozzles and paint mixtures to ensure proper paint flow and coating thickness. • Knowledge of water-based painting processes and materials. • Capability to stand, bend, and climb for long periods while performing painting tasks. • Attention to detail and ability to identify and correct paint defects or inconsistencies. • Commitment to following safety procedures and using required personal protective equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience working in outdoor industrial environments such as construction or mining applications. • Familiarity with painting large equipment, trailers, tanks, and structural components. • Ability to work long shifts on a weekend-based schedule (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM). • Comfort working in varying weather conditions, including cold, hot, or wet environments. • Strong work ethic and ability to contribute to a close-knit, hard-working team culture. Work EnvironmentThe work takes place in an outdoor industrial setting supporting the manufacturing of water and fuel tanks, coal haulers, bottom-dump trailers, and equipment transports used in construction and mining applications worldwide. Painters primarily use water-based paints and industrial spray equipment, often working on large structures and mobile units. The environment is outside and can involve exposure to varying weather conditions, including cold, hot, and wet conditions. Ear protection is required when working near loud machinery. The role involves physically demanding tasks such as standing, bending, and climbing for extended periods. The standard shift is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Albuquerque, NM. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
