The Podiatry Assistant will contribute to the assessment, implementation and delivery of high-quality patient care within a professional team. Will demonstrate responsibility to patients, relatives and colleagues through contribution to the development and monitoring of agreed evidence-based practice and to the health and social care programmes.
If you don't already have a Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant subject, RDaSH are offering this post alongside the opportunity for you to complete a Level 3apprenticeship qualification [relevant to your role].
As an apprentice within RDaSH you will be given the opportunity to gain experience, learn work-related skills and obtain all the tools needed to thrive.
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. Around 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying. This leads to a nationally recognised qualification.
Whether you already work for us or are joining the Trust and NHS for the first time, apprenticeships can help you to develop the skills, knowledge and know-how in order to embark on a successful and fulfilling career within the health service.
Main duties of the job
Undertake agreed activities as delegated by a qualified Podiatrist, with patients / service users under the direct /In-direct supervision of the qualified staff.
Contributes to the assessment, implementation and delivery of individualised evidence-based care.
To maintain accurate records in all settings electronically, record new problems as they areidentified and report all actions to podiatrist in charge/case manager
Develop a rapport with patients / service users and encourage them to participate in the rehabilitation/ healthcare programmes and activities.
Work in partnership with patients/carers and the MDT to promote Health and independence.
Maintain confidentiality at all times in accordance with Trust policies and national guidelines.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
English and Maths at level 2 or equivalent (GCSE 9-4 or A*- C or functional skills level 2 NVQ Level 2 in a related subject NVQ level 3 in related subject or willingness to undertake a relevant Level 3 Apprenticeship
Experience Essential
Good Organisational and Time Management skills. Ability to communicate effectively i.e. written, oral skills and IT skills. Ability to work unsupervised in a delegated area and as part of a team. Ability to evidence the skills required in accordance with the skills map. Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team within a delegated workload.
Desirable
Supervisory skills desirable. Statutory and mandatory training as identified within the Trust policy e.g. moving & handling, fire lecture, information governance, and resuscitation update.
Knowledge Essential
Able to make non-judgemental decisions, seek advice based on their findings. Ability to prioritise workload depending on variability and unpredictability of patient / service user dependency. Able to work in complex environments dealing with difficult emotional situations Ability to identify needs and problem solve following a competency framework/skills map
Desirable
Understanding of the principles of care management. Awareness of factors that contribute to good health and the importance of promoting these in line with organisational public health policy.
Skills/Abilities Essential
IT literate Maintain confidentiality at all times in accordance with Trust policies and national guidelines Due to the need to travel between multiple varied locations during the working day, it is essential that the post holder is either a car driver or able to be independently mobile in a suitable vehicle. To maintain, update and develop personal, professional knowledge and skills achieving high standards of patient care at all times. Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills. Contribute to discussions during patient / service user care management meeting. Organise own day-to-day workload, within their delegated scope of practice according to relevant skills map.
Desirable
Risk assessment skills. Skilled moving and handling of patients / service users, objects / Equipment following trust policy and local assessment.
