We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Salaried GP to join our friendly, experienced team at Oakfield Street Surgery, an established GP training practice caring for around 13,500 patients.
We are offering 46 sessions per week, Monday to Wednesday, with a flexible working pattern to be agreed with the successful candidate. The post is initially offered on a 12-month fixed-term contract, with a view to permanency.
Youll join a supportive clinical team of 6 GP Partners and 4 Salaried GPs, working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary practice team. As a training practice, we have a strong ethos of teaching, professional development and collaborative, patient-centred care.

Main duties of the job
Working 46 sessions per week, Monday to Wednesday, the role will include:
Undertaking routine face-to-face and telephone GP consultations, assessing, diagnosing & managing a range of acute & chronic conditions.
Participating in the practice duty/on-call GP rota as part of the agreed job plan, including telephone & clinical triage, urgent patient assessments & appropriate home visits.
Reviewing pathology, investigation results & out-of-hours reports, taking appropriate action where required.
Making appropriate referrals & providing ongoing management & follow-up of patients.
Providing clinical advice & support to the wider multidisciplinary practice team.
Maintaining accurate clinical records & working in accordance with GMC standards, practice policies & relevant NHS Wales requirements.
Contributing to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement & patient safety.
Working collaboratively with our 6 GP Partners, 4 Salaried GPs and wider multidisciplinary team.
Supporting our strong teaching and training ethos, including contributing to the education & development of GP trainees, medical students and other learners where appropriate.
The post holder will report to the GP Partners & will have an agreed job plan reflecting their clinical responsibilities.

Job Purpose
The post holder will work as an integral member of the practice clinical team, providing high-quality, safe and effective general medical services to the practice population.
The post holder will undertake routine GP consultations and participate in the practice duty/on-call system as part of the agreed job plan.
The post holder will work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team and contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement, teaching, training and the ongoing development of the practice.
As Oakfield Street Surgery is a GP training practice, the post holder will be encouraged to contribute to the teaching, supervision and development of learners within the practice, appropriate to their experience and role.
Main Clinical Responsibilities
The post holder will:
Provide high-quality, evidence-based general medical care to registered patients.
Undertake face-to-face and telephone consultations as appropriate.
Assess, diagnose and manage a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions.
Provide appropriate follow-up and ongoing management of patients.
Provide preventative care and health promotion.
Prescribe safely and appropriately in accordance with current guidance and practice procedures.
Make appropriate referrals to secondary care and other health and social care services.
Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and appropriate clinical records.
Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and carers.
Ensure patients are treated with dignity, respect and compassion.
Recognise and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
Work within the limits of professional competence and seek advice where appropriate.
Duty / On-Call GP Responsibilities
Participation in the practice duty/on-call system will form part of the agreed job plan.
Responsibilities will include:
Telephone and clinical triage of patients.
Assessment and management of urgent clinical presentations.
Providing appropriate urgent clinical advice and treatment.
Undertaking appropriate home visits.
Reviewing and responding to out-of-hours reports.
Reviewing pathology, investigation and other clinical results.
Reviewing relevant clinical correspondence.
Providing clinical advice and support to the wider practice team.
Arranging appropriate follow-up, referral or onward care where required.
Responding appropriately to clinical emergencies.
Communication and Team Working
The post holder will:
Work collaboratively with GP Partners, Salaried GPs and the wider multidisciplinary team.
Maintain effective communication with practice nursing, pharmacy, administrative and reception staff.
Provide appropriate clinical advice and support to colleagues.
Communicate effectively with external healthcare professionals and services.
Participate in relevant practice meetings.
Contribute to a positive, supportive and respectful working environment.
Communicate clearly and sensitively with patients and their families/carers.
Teaching, Training and Professional Development

Following agreed clinical guidelines, protocols and practice procedures.
Contributing to the development and review of clinical policies where appropriate.

Terms and Conditions

Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience, reflecting current Welsh Salaried GP arrangements.
