Job summary The Leeds Children's Hospital is looking to recruit a part-time Senior Clinical Psychologist to provide 12 months of maternity cover into our Paediatric Psychology Team. The post-holder will have the opportunity to work alongside established Clinical Psychology colleagues to support the Regional Cystic Fibrosis Service and contribute towards the Departments inpatient ward cover rota and outpatient work.
You will be working as part of a supportive and friendly clinical team, alongside experienced as well as more recently qualified psychology colleagues. The post will offer a wide range of clinical experiences, including specialty work as an integrated part of the MDT, in-patient, out-patient and consultative working, as well as liaison with Medical MDT's and colleagues in CYPMHS (Children and Young People's Mental Health Services). We will endeavour to take into account personal preferences and CPD needs when job planning for this varied role.
Main duties of the job You will be joining the Department of Paediatric Psychology (DPP), with over 30 clinicians, organised in four sectors of care: Long Term Conditions, Neuropsychology, Surgery and Oncology, and Cardiology & Neonates. This post sits in the Long-Term Conditions Team, and you will be supporting Children, Young People and their families to live well with long-term medical conditions.
The Department is academically ambitious with good links to the Leeds DClinPsych Programme and Schools of Medicine and Psychology at the University of Leeds. Scholarly activity is an important part of what we do, and successful candidates will be encouraged to take academic opportunities that are on offer.
We value achieving a balance between work and home life. After an induction period, we can seek to support flexible, agile working which includes, for example, homeworking, compressed hours and varied start/finish times. However, being an acute Paediatric Service, a regular on-site presence is needed.

What you will bring to the role To provide a qualified Clinical Psychology service to Children and Young People and their families in Leeds and across all sites and sectors of care by:
Providing highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy
Offering advice and consultation on patient's psychological and neuropsychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other non-professional carers
Using research skills for audit, policy and service development and leading on research projects within the area served by the team/service.
Working autonomously in the execution of these duties and within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the Psychology Teams, Department and Trust Policies and Procedures.
