Job summary The GI, Germ Cell and Sarcoma Research Team is recruiting! The Research and Innovation Department is continuing its exciting expansion. We have several research specialities and the GI/GC and Sarcoma research portfolio is looking for an experienced Research Nurse. It is a full time (1.0WTE), with a temporary contract (12 months contract due to funding). This post will be based at SJUH. The post holder will contribute actively to the conduct, coordination, and delivery of the GI/GC and Sarcoma Research Portfolio. The main tasks are: Developing their own clinical practice and maintaining competencies (related to the research portfolio) and where appropriate taking delegated responsibility for the clinical elements of studies in line with Trust policies and study protocols, this includes managing their own portfolio of studies and delivering trial treatments, therefore an existing SACT competency is highly desirable. In addition to being responsible for ensuring that high standards of clinical care planning, delivery, safety, and patient satisfaction are to a very high standards, compliance with Trust policy, study protocol requirements, local and national guidance and legislation is required If you are interested in the post, we would like to encourage you to contact the recruiting manager for an informal discussion.
Main duties of the job Team 2a is a well-established and collaborative group, working closely with our oncology colleagues to deliver a diverse portfolio of studies across Gastrointestinal, Germ Cell, and Sarcoma specialties.
The team currently includes three experienced Band 6 nurses and will soon be joined by a Band 5 Research Staff Nurse, whose primary focus will be administering trial-related treatments. We are now looking to welcome an additional Band 6 Research Nurse to further strengthen our team. This role offers the opportunity to provide high-quality support to patients while working in partnership with multidisciplinary oncology colleagues.
As a Band 6 Research Nurse, you will be involved in all aspects of the patient journey, including identification, screening, eligibility confirmation, treatment delivery, and follow-up care. This is a fixed-term position, and we are particularly keen to recruit an experienced Research Nurse who is adaptable, flexible, and ideally SACT competent. Your expertise will help us sustain our current momentum and continue to grow our portfolio of studies.

We are looking to recruit a proactive and self-motivated individual with a keen interest in research to work within our team. Your main responsibilities will be: To take delegated responsibility for the coordination and delivery of a portfolio of clinical research studies, ensuring that participants receive high standards of patient focused care in accordance with Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust guidelines, policies and the trial protocol throughout their participation. To provide on-going advice and information to patients/volunteers with regard to their participation in clinical research in order to facilitate effective informed consent and to maintain a supportive role throughout the trial. To ensure that you obtain and maintain high levels of understanding in relation to the clinical and delivery of the research studies that you support. To assist in the assessment of patients/volunteers for eligibility for research and monitoring of their condition throughout their participation. To coordinate trial investigations, treatments and procedures according to trial protocols and professional body the person in post belongs to. Due to this post being for a fixed term period we are looking for an experienced Research Nurse, capable of managing a portfolio of studies with minimal supervision. In return we offer a period of Induction and the ongoing support of an existing dedicated team of Band 5 and 6 Research nurses.
